"Jewel of the Rockies"
As the crowning jewel of Rocky Mountain National Park, Longs Peak is the northern most peak over 14,000 feet in the Rockies and reaches 14,259 feet. This piece pictures the “The Diamond” which is the sheer and prominent east face of Longs Peak and named for the shape of the cliff. It has a vertical gain of more than 900 feet all above an elevation of 13,000 feet. It is highly sought by climbers worldwide as it is the highest alpine big wall in the lower 48 totaling over a million square feet of vertical granite.
